what happened to all the forex traders?
pyramid schemes, job shaming and finding your own path
I want to ask a question. I don’t want anybody to fight me or turn up to my front door. I’m merely asking this question for market research purposes. Nothing malicious. So please don’t be offended. If you are hurt by anything I do or do not say in this post, please forgive me. Okay here’s my question…
What happened to everyone who was doing ACN circa 2014? Where did you all go? What happened to your webinars? Your impromptu trips to Barcelona for conferences? Your money-motivated mindset?
You told us that you were going to create generational wealth while we bums, Neanderthals, “savages” who didn’t keep up with the times, were going to be stuck in poverty.
What happened?
All the forex traders from the start of the pandemic? Weren’t you breaking the rules and changing the game? Are you all millionaires yet? Didn’t go to plan I see? Pyramid schemes don’t pay huh?
“My brother, do you want to be financially free?” My brother, ARE YOU EVEN FREE?
I don’t make the rules. Life isn’t linear. When you looked down on the rest of us, we didn’t say anything. We bit our tongues and held our lips. When you turned your noses up at us, we were surprised you couldn’t smell the stench of your pride. They treated us like second-class citizens because we hadn’t reached their level of consciousness and were still stuck in the matrix.
But alas, we’re both here. On the Jubilee Line at 8:45 am because Trading 212 wasn’t enough to leave the shackles of the corporate world. MLM couldn’t compete with the safety of PAYE. You couldn’t build a house from pyramid schemes.

There seems to be this tension between the 9-5ers and the ”I could never work for someone else” pioneers. And the only result of this pointless friction, outside of cryptic motivational quotes on Instagram stories at 6:37 am on a weekday, is job shaming. We (employed people) are seen as mindless robots who haven’t managed to release ourselves from the oppression of office buildings, client lunches and payday planning.
It’s like Camp Rock vs Camp Star. Two warring groups of people but at the end of the day, can’t we all enjoy our summers? Everyone has different paths, styles, and budgets, but we all have the same vision and goal.
At this stage of life, everyone is at different stages.
All running different races. The Investment Bankers are earning 6 figures by their mid-twenties whilst some of us are still in school doing postgraduate degrees. The theatre kids may be struggling to land acting roles now and settling for TV ads but when they start winning Oscars and BAFTAs, no one will question their career choices. Money doesn’t always come immediately for many of us, but it will come. Maybe not now, but soon.
That’s why I find job shaming very weird. Why must you attack someone by degrading their current situation? “You’re working a dumb 9-5 job! Don’t you want to be your own boss?” No, I don’t. I don’t want to go to sleep having to think about if I’ve done enough to earn a living today. I want to go on holiday or take sick leave without fearing that everything will collapse in my absence. I can’t be bothered to sort out my taxes and calculate what I owe HMRC come April.
So tell both malachi2rich and callumgrinding247 on Snapchat that we are fine. We don’t need their career advice, we don’t want to pivot our goals and dreams because of the mirage of money or missing out on supposed “freedom”. We’re free.
Find your own path. If you have your path, be content with it.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting more or aiming to improve or better yourself but via hatred? Heck no. I want to live in a world where financial gurus don’t dictate my happiness or perception of where I am in life. I want to live in a world where people who wear turtlenecks and go to finance conferences don’t determine whether we all feel good or rubbish about ourselves and the choices we have made in life.
As I Grow Older, I just ignore these forex traders.
Whether you attain your wealth through forex trading, hard graft or checking for errors on an Excel spreadsheet, your story still matters. And no one’s comments or perceptions should change that.
Job shaming is shameful. Any shaming for that matter. I can never judge anyone for what they have right now because I don’t know what it took for them to get it. Whether in excess or lack. Whether the billionaire who got a leg up through daddy’s money or the £21k per annum Sales Executive who is the first in his family to graduate from university and hold down a stable job. I can’t look down or up at either. We’re all equals.
Not sure if that made sense but if there’s one thing you take from today, just remember this: forex traders won’t make it to heaven.
Have a great week and see you all next time. This weekend I’m looking forward to the London Premiere of the short film: record found here. It is directed by a good friend of mine and former University of Warwick buddy Lanaire Aderemi. I don’t know if it’s safe to say you went to Warwick these days but I’m proud of all she’s doing and love learning about Nigerian history, especially the Egba Women’s Revolt, through her performances. If you’re in and around London this Saturday, swing by! I’ll even add the link below to make it easier for you:
Love, Peace, and Blessings,
Abs
Great piece as always
